Hello!

Now that my head is clear and I am no longer thinking of Channing Tatum stripping for me, I can give you guys a real and well thought out review of Magic Mike.

The movie is loosely based off of Tatum’s male stripper career. Tatum plays a young entrepreneur named Mike, who has been saving money from his countless jobs to start his own custom furniture business. And that’s pretty much all you know about his life. It was a little disappointing that the story line was so weak. I mean, Mike, works so hard, running 3-4 different businesses and also stripping at night, just so that he can start his lifelong dream of building custom furniture. And do you know what happens? He just gets kicked in the nads at every corner!

The only thing the stripping does for this movie is distract you from the fact that Mike’s life is in a shithole. I really would have loved to see more of Mike trying to succeed in his business.

So Mike, being the nice guy he is, meets a 19 year old at his tile roofing job and decides to help him out. He gets this kid a job at the strip club, and for a 19 year old, he is making bank. You know what this kid does? He gets into this drug dealing fiasco and it fucking screws over Mike! The “kid” loses about 1000 doses of ecstasy. These thugs that come looking for the kid trash Mike’s house demanding to know where he is. Out of the kindness of Mike’s heart he pays off these thugs that were looking to beat the shit out of this kid. He pays them $10,000 of his hard earned cash. Mike, now has to start over and is even further from his dream job.

Not only that, but this kid gets some of Mike’s cut that was promised by the owner of the strip club for this big Miami deal that Mike helped plan out. Not only THAT, but Mike also finds out his booty call (which I’m pretty sure he had actual feelings for) has a fiance!

Just everything goes wrong for Mike, and you know how the movie ends? He gets with the kid’s sister. That’s it. The kid’s sister and Mike kiss and the movie just ends. What the fuck happens with his custom furniture business? Will he ever achieve his dream? WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENS? Like, oh let’s fucking kick Mike as hard as we can in the shins, but you know we’ll make him feel better by giving him a new love interest.

Overall, terrible story line.

But you know what? The stripping was magical. So if you want to ogle at half naked men, you will love this movie. If you are looking for a good story and a happy ending, don’t see this movie.
